Some of the WORST Study Tips Students Must AVOID

Some of the WORST study tips students need to AVOID are:

 1. Sleeping less or staying up late for studies can be destructive. Poor sleep directly results in poor performance, imbalanced body time and adverse health over time.

2. Long hours of study at one stretch is detrimental, though it can look good on parents. However, our working memory can deal with small bite-size knowledge only at a time. Breaks and revisions after the break more important for understanding and retention, instead. Similarly, an uninterrupted 45 minutes of focused study is far more effective than interrupted or with TV on 2 hours of study.

3. Worrying or not knowing what to study causes the brain to lose focus. Especially when exams are approaching near.

4. Counting the volumes of studies that's remaining such as 'I have 10 chapters in this subject and 15 chapters in another subject to finish in less than a month,' causes the brain to shut down some way.

5. Waiting for the perfect time and moment - such as I will study from Sunday, from tomorrow, after my friend's birthday celebration this Friday etc.. are the real time killer.

6. Not chilling or having fun simply because there is so much to study is probably the biggest myth around here. For learning to be effective, we need a balanced amount of a fun-filled, socially active, outgoing lifestyle.

7. Similarly, neglecting food, water and exercise is another big mistake. Protein-rich food and frequent sips of water daily are highly important. Our brain is mostly protein (amino acids) and water. Also, physically active life-style directly supports health of the brain.
